For years, I lived in a narrow view,
“Good” or “bad,” as if they were true.
But now I see beneath the skin,
The quiet storms each heart holds in.
We judge so fast, we point, we claim,
Assigning fault, assigning blame.
Yet who can know the weight they bear,
Or the silent cross that’s always there?
A neighbor’s smile might hide their tears,
A friend might laugh to mask their fears.
Each stranger walks a road unknown,
Each soul a world, each pain their own.
And so, I’ve learned to pause, to see,
To step beyond what seems to be.
For life is fleeting, a fragile thread,
And love is all we leave when we’re dead.
Now, in my years, I strive to show,
A gentler way for hearts to grow.
To meet each soul with an open mind,
And leave behind the need to bind.
That reel has stayed with me since then,
A spark that lit my world again.
For no family returns the same once more,
But kindness lingers forevermore.
